A Classroom Teacher Who Truly Understands the Exam

I'm Jake White — a Deputy Head of Maths with over 10 years of classroom teaching experience. I've marked thousands of GCSE papers, which means I know exactly what examiners are looking for and precisely where students lose marks.

My sessions combine two proven approaches: mastery of key topic content and focused exam technique. Every student also receives weekly homework with fully worked video solutions so learning continues between sessions.

I run specialist groups for both Foundation and Higher tier students, with a maximum of 6 students per group — small enough for every student to get real attention.

Mastery of Content

Each week, one session is dedicated to building deep understanding of key topic content — ensuring students genuinely grasp the maths, not just memorise it.

Exam Technique Focus

A second weekly session is devoted entirely to exam technique — how to structure answers, gain method marks, and manage time under pressure.

Homework + Video Solutions

Weekly homework is set after every session, accompanied by fully worked video solutions so students can review at their own pace.

Small Groups (Max 6)

Groups are capped at 6 students — giving each pupil meaningful attention while building confidence through shared learning.

Online Tuition vs In-Person

Parents often assume in-person is better. The evidence — and the results — tell a different story.

More Than Just Tuition

An approach built on insider examiner knowledge, structured learning, and the kind of preparation that genuinely moves grades.

01
Examiner-Level Insight

Having marked thousands of GCSE papers, Jake knows exactly how examiners think — and teaches students to write answers that earn every available mark.

02
Two Sessions Per Week

One session on core topic content, one on exam technique. Both are essential for GCSE success and rarely offered together in standard tuition.

03
Foundation & Higher Specialists

Separate groups for Foundation and Higher tier students mean the teaching is always pitched perfectly, with no compromise.

04
Worked Video Solutions

Every homework comes with fully worked video solutions. Students can revisit explanations as many times as they need — at any hour.

05
Small Groups, Real Attention

A maximum of 6 students per group ensures every student is seen, heard, and supported — while keeping sessions affordable.

06
Flexible Online Delivery

All sessions run on Microsoft Teams — no travel, no scheduling headaches. Students across the UK can access the same quality teaching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask before booking — answered honestly.

Each session is 60 minutes. Depending on the plan, your child will have either one or two sessions per week. The Standard Group includes one lesson per week, while the Exam Enhancer plan includes two — one focused on topic content and one on exam technique.
All sessions are recorded and shared with students, so your child can watch back anything they miss. Homework will still be set based on the lesson content, complete with fully worked video solutions to consolidate their learning. Please note that sessions are paid for in advance and will not be rescheduled or refunded for absences.
I cover Edexcel, AQA, and OCR at both Foundation and Higher tier. The core topic content is consistent across all boards, so all students are covered regardless of their school's board. On the Exam Enhancer plan, the dedicated exam technique sessions are tailored to your child's specific exam board, covering the style, structure and mark scheme of their actual papers.
Absolutely. I can see all students' digital whiteboards simultaneously throughout the lesson, so I know immediately if someone is struggling. I also use multiple choice polls to check understanding across the group. If a student needs individual support, I can use breakout rooms for one-to-one explanations and can write directly on their personal whiteboard to work through problems with them.
No — Foundation and Higher tier students are always in separate groups. This ensures the content, pace and challenge level is exactly right for every student in the room.
Students are grouped by year group, tier (Foundation or Higher), and working-at grade. This means your child will be learning alongside peers at a similar stage, which keeps sessions productive and ensures nobody is left behind or unchallenged.
At minimum, your child needs a device with a reliable internet connection to join the session. For a better experience, a tablet with a stylus (or a graphics drawing tablet connected to a laptop) allows them to write on their digital whiteboard naturally. The optimal setup is a tablet with a stylus for writing plus a separate laptop or device to join the Teams session — this lets them write and see the lesson simultaneously without switching between apps.
I'll always do my best to help resolve technical issues during a session. If the problem is caused by your child's device or internet connection, I'm unable to take responsibility — but the session recording will still be available. If the technical issue is on my end, I will resolve it and ensure the full lesson takes place. If it can't be resolved, the lesson will be rescheduled or a refund offered.
Every child is different and improves at their own pace — I can't predict timescales or guarantee specific grades. What I can say is that all students have shown an improvement in confidence from their very first lesson, and the results from past students speak for themselves. Consistent attendance and completing homework between sessions makes a significant difference to progress.
The minimum commitment is 4 weeks. If after the first lesson you're not completely satisfied, a full refund is available — no questions asked. Students who commit to longer-term arrangements benefit from reduced rates, so it's worth discussing options during your free consultation.
